History
Oldest active Shul in Phl. Started in a small house in Sterling Alley, west of 3rd St. Moved in 1776 to Cherry Alley between 3rd and 4th Sts., a member's home. Dedicated a Shul on Cherry Street in 1782. Rebuilt and rededicated Shul at same location in 1825. Erected new building at 7th above Arch in 1860; moved to Broad and York in 1909 and to current location in 1976.
