History

See Adath Shalom

1952–

YPC Shari-Eli is the only remaining conservative synagogue in South Philadelphia. Located in an area that once flourished with Jewish families, YPC Shari-Eli continues to operate through the good times and bad, even though the Jewish population in South Philadelphia has decreased dramatically. In 1952, younger members of the Shari-Eli congregation, once located at 8th & Porter, broke away to form the YPC (Young People's Congregation) of their synagogue. The fact that YPC Shari-Eli has survived this long is truly a blessing and we would like to continue its operation. However, we sometimes struggle to form a minyan and are always looking for new members. That's where you come in. Please join us for services! All are welcome! If you have any questions or would like to join our email list for virtual services, we urge you to contact us at the following: YPCShariEli@gmail.com
